This First section of the World Longest Native American Painting was created in 2006-2007. It was in part executed during a feature of Daniel Ramirez Artwork at the National Museum of the American Indian (NMAI) in Washington DC.

Based on the theme of Matriarchy, this painting depicts the women roles and interactions in the Ojibwe Culture found within the three states around the Great Lakes:

Michigan:  Bay Mills Chippewa, Grand Traverse Bay Ottawa, HannavillePotawattomi, Keeweenaw Bay Indian Community, Lac Vieux Desert Chippewas, Little River Band of Ottawa, Little Traverse Band of Odawa, Gun Lake Potawattomi, Huron Band of Potawattomi, Saginaw Chippewa, Sault St. Marie Chippewa
